Noel has portrayed the main character, Ever, to be confident, strong and someone with an indecisive mind and we follow her through her adventures of pain, loss, happiness and love.
(SPOILER)
In this book we also gain a new insight into the whole other world of Summerland and Shadowland. Using descriptive words, Noel describes in feeling the effects of Shadowland and how there is another side to the supposedly wonderful Summerland. Through Ever, we get a sense of how emotions are messed with when in the Shadowland, as torment and loss are portrayed through memory. We then understand that Summerland is not as perfect as it seems as Ever and Damon stumble upon a new kind of place.
Altogether, this story is about Ever finding who she belongs with and reasoning with an enemy – all the while struggling with home and school life.
